Microneedling

We are pleased to perform microneedling (also known as collagen induction therapy) at our office. Microneedling uses several fine needles to effectively and safely make micro-injuries in the needed areas of the skin. The micro-injuries trigger the body’s natural production of collagen and elastin, two nutrients that contribute to the health and appearance of your complexion. Based on your skin needs, we offer two different types of microneedling tools by DermaPen and AquaGold Fine Touch. Often combined with other skin treatments, like PRP (platelet-rich plasma), microneedling can help minimize pores, stretch marks, and scars.

Is Microneedling For You?
You may be a good candidate for DermaPen or AquaGold Fine Touch microneedling treatments if you have slight or moderate skin problems, like a decrease in firmness or uneven texture. Microneedling procedures can also minimize the look of pores, scars, and stretch marks. We want to let you know that you must be willing to wait before seeing improvements from a microneedling procedure. Sometimes, it takes a little longer to see noticeable results because the elastin and collagen in your skin need a chance to rebuild. Generally, the elastin and collagen require a month or longer to affect the skin, but you will attain natural-looking results and gain better overall skin health.
Procedure Technique
Microneedling is performed in one of our office procedure rooms in about 30-60 minutes with local anesthesia or numbing cream, if preferred, but patients typically feel little or no discomfort. The areas of skin being addressed will be cleaned before the handpiece is evenly passed over. After the microneedling is performed, a treatment, like platelet-rich plasma (PRP) or a serum with a vitamin infusion, can be applied for deeper penetration of the nutrients into the skin. A moisturizer will be massaged in, along with sun protection, because your skin will be more sensitive following the procedure.
Your Microneedling Treatment
Following the procedure, you may develop some swelling, redness (much like a sunburn), and minor bleeding for about a day, but this should subside quickly on its own. Additionally, your face might feel tight and warm. Before you leave, we will provide detailed instructions for caring for your skin. Before you notice significant changes in the appearance and health of your skin, it may take around 1-2 months as the collagen and elastin levels increase. You should schedule about 4-6 maintenance sessions every 4-6 weeks for ideal results and long-lasting skin health.
